For this supplementary course we were expected to do a structural analysis of the building, the individual lives in. For this exercise I choose my room and made a structural analysis diagram to comprehend the transfer of load which takes place through the structure. We learned the basics of the structure in this process like for example the different forces which act on it, how the load transfer takes place in different kind of structures, the variety in the sizes of the beams and columns as the height of building changes.
The materials which were used while constructing the building were also learned by us and how the materials used for construction also change with the change in the height of the building.
The above structure is a RCC structure.
The structure shows the transfer of load from my room to the foundation of the structure. The infill structure is also mentioned in the diagram.
Not only did my analysis of the structure help me understand the concepts better but the analysis done by my classmates was also really useful, because everyone lived in a different kind of building, majorly they were only RCC structure and load bearing structure.
